FCL and LCL from South China ports direct to Europe’s base ports, delivered duty paid to warehouse
Sea freight sets the cost floor for bulk cargo and steady replenishment. Full container load (FCL) suits consignments that fill a 20-foot or 40-foot box; less than container load (LCL) is charged per cubic metre and suits smaller, multi-SKU lots. Departures are from Yantian, Shekou or Kwai Tsing direct to Felixstowe/Southampton, Hamburg and Le Havre, and to Jebel Ali, Jeddah and Dammam in the Gulf, with delivery after clearance to FBA, third-party warehouses or a nominated address.
A 20-foot container holds roughly 25–28 cubic metres and a 40-foot high cube about 65–68. Once a consignment reaches about eighty percent of a container, FCL is usually cheaper and avoids deconsolidation at the destination port, giving a steadier lead time.
Machinery, furniture and exhibition equipment are assessed per piece, with open-top or flat-rack containers where needed; provide dimensions, weight and packaging for each piece before dispatch.
Some Asia–Europe services still route via the Cape of Good Hope, global schedule reliability remains below two-thirds, and European ports see occasional berthing delays and strikes. Plan sea freight on the upper end of the published ranges and add a week’s buffer for major sales events.
