Before a Hong Kong company ships to Europe or the Gulf
Six things to settle first
- EORI
- Separate importer numbers for the EU and the UK; whose EORI is on the declaration decides who owns the import documents and whether VAT is reclaimable.
- VAT / PVA / IOSS
- UK PVA removes cash outlay on import VAT; EU IOSS applies to B2C distance sales under €150. Without numbers, DDP is the fallback.
- GPSR
- The EU General Product Safety Regulation requires an EU-based responsible person whose details appear on the product or packaging; Hong Kong sellers must arrange this in advance.
- EPR
- Germany’s LUCID packaging register, WEEE and battery law, and France’s packaging and electronics EPR; Amazon checks the registration numbers.
- ICS2 / ENS
- Pre-arrival safety filing for the EU; vague descriptions or missing buyer and seller details lead to do-not-load; we file within each trunk’s deadline.
- GCC / SABER
- Gulf states apply the GCC common tariff, with VAT at 5% in the UAE and 15% in Saudi Arabia; regulated products for Saudi Arabia need SABER certificates first, and Arabic labels and certificates of origin are routinely checked.

What do you need for a quote?
Description and use of the goods, number of pieces, weight and dimensions per piece (or total weight and cubic metres), destination country and address type (Amazon, third-party warehouse or commercial address), target lead time, and whether the goods contain batteries, magnets, liquids or branded items. Use the quote request builder on this site and paste the result into WeChat.
Do you collect in Hong Kong?
Yes. We collect from warehouses, factories and offices in Hong Kong, or your supplier can deliver to our Shenzhen consolidation hub. Pieces, labels and declaration details are checked and photographed at collection.
What does delivered duty paid (DDP) mean?
The forwarder handles both the export declaration and the import clearance and pays the destination duty and VAT on your behalf; you only hand over the goods. The forwarder is the importer, so import VAT is not raised in your name and you cannot reclaim it.
Can a Hong Kong company ship without a European VAT number?
Yes, under DDP. If you are already VAT-registered in the UK, consider postponed VAT accounting instead: you import under your own GB EORI, account for import VAT on your return without paying up front, and the amount is reclaimable.
From which day do the transit times count?
From trunk departure (sailing, take-off or train dispatch) until customs release and signed receipt at the FBA or third-party warehouse, including destination clearance. Hong Kong collection, consolidation and booking lead time are additional, as are Amazon appointments and check-in.
Do you take oversized or overweight pieces?
Sea FCL and LCL take over-length, over-weight and irregular pieces, with open-top or flat-rack containers where needed; air is limited by aircraft door sizes, so send each piece’s dimensions and weight for assessment.
