FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What Hong Kong shippers ask most: what a quote needs, DDP versus PVA, transit-time measurement, batteries and branded goods, Amazon deliveries and tracking.
Quotes and collection
What do you need for a quote?
Description and use of the goods, number of pieces, weight and dimensions per piece (or total weight and cubic metres), destination country and address type (Amazon, third-party warehouse or commercial address), target lead time, and whether the goods contain batteries, magnets, liquids or branded items. Use the quote request builder on this site and paste the result into WeChat.
Do you collect in Hong Kong?
Yes. We collect from warehouses, factories and offices in Hong Kong, or your supplier can deliver to our Shenzhen consolidation hub. Pieces, labels and declaration details are checked and photographed at collection.
Is there a minimum shipment size?
There is no fixed threshold; consignments are charged with a minimum chargeable weight or volume, and small lots can share pallets or containers. Details are in the quotation.
Which currency are quotes in?
The quotation states the settlement currency and payment terms; Hong Kong dollar, renminbi or US dollar settlement is arranged to suit you and confirmed at quotation.
Customs and tax
What does delivered duty paid (DDP) mean?
The forwarder handles both the export declaration and the import clearance and pays the destination duty and VAT on your behalf; you only hand over the goods. The forwarder is the importer, so import VAT is not raised in your name and you cannot reclaim it.
Can a Hong Kong company ship without a European VAT number?
Yes, under DDP. If you are already VAT-registered in the UK, consider postponed VAT accounting instead: you import under your own GB EORI, account for import VAT on your return without paying up front, and the amount is reclaimable.
Does the EU €150 duty exemption still apply?
The EU is reforming duty and handling-fee arrangements for low-value consignments and the rules differ by phase. Check the latest European Commission and national customs notices before shipping; we explain the rules in force at the time of quotation.
How does Gulf clearance differ from Europe?
Most goods attract the GCC common tariff of 5%, with VAT at 5% in the UAE and 15% in Saudi Arabia. Regulated products for Saudi Arabia need SABER conformity certificates first; certificates of origin, commercial invoices and Arabic labels are routinely checked, and food needs halal certification. The Middle East route runs mainly on DDP terms, declared by licensed local brokers.
What happens if customs inspects the goods?
The broker obtains the inspection notice and list of missing documents immediately; most inspections stem from mismatches in description, HS code or declared value, and supplying the documents is usually faster than re-declaring. Storage and handling charges from inspections are settled at cost.
Transit times
From which day do the transit times count?
From trunk departure (sailing, take-off or train dispatch) until customs release and signed receipt at the FBA or third-party warehouse, including destination clearance. Hong Kong collection, consolidation and booking lead time are additional, as are Amazon appointments and check-in.
How long does Hong Kong to the Middle East take?
Warehouse-arrival basis: UAE air express 3–5 working days and sea FCL 20–26; Saudi Arabia air express 4–6 and sea FCL 25–30. SABER certificates for regulated products must be ready before dispatch, or clearance time falls outside these ranges.
Why do forwarders quote lead times a week apart?
Usually not exaggeration but different measurement: some count from collection, others from sailing; some stop at port arrival, others at Amazon check-in. Before comparing, ask where the count starts, whether clearance is included and whether FBA check-in is included.
How much buffer should I allow in peak season?
For Black Friday and Christmas, plan on the upper end of the table plus 5–7 working days, shipping the bulk by sea and topping up fast movers by air.
Cargo restrictions
Can you ship goods with batteries?
Yes, through a battery-approved channel with a UN38.3 test summary and MSDS; built-in, packed-with and standalone batteries fall under different packing instructions, space is tighter and transit is usually slightly longer than general cargo.
Can you ship branded or trademarked goods?
Brand authorisation or trademark proof is required; counterfeits are refused. The risk of intellectual-property detention by European customs rests with the shipper.
Do you take oversized or overweight pieces?
Sea FCL and LCL take over-length, over-weight and irregular pieces, with open-top or flat-rack containers where needed; air is limited by aircraft door sizes, so send each piece’s dimensions and weight for assessment.
Amazon and warehousing
Can you deliver directly to Amazon UK, DE and FR?
Yes. After customs release we book Amazon appointments; labelling, carton splitting and palletising are done at collection or at the European warehouse.
Do the warehouses offer per-order fulfilment?
Yes. The UK, German and French warehouses pick, pack and dispatch with local carriers, and take in and inspect returns.
Tracking and protection
How do I track my cargo?
Flight, vessel or train details are shared on departure, and clearance and delivery milestones are updated by your account manager on WeChat; active clients get an account on the end-to-end tracking system.
What if cargo is damaged or lost?
We recommend cargo insurance for the declared value, with claims settled under the policy terms; uninsured cargo is handled within the carrier’s liability limits. Photograph and report any irregularity immediately on receipt.
